In NC, teen driver education is a two-part program designed to build knowledge first and skills second.

The first part course should be completed before behind-the-wheel training. This portion is made up of a series of modules, traffic laws,road signs, safe driving techniques, defensive driving strategie, the dangers of distracted, impaired driving, responsibility and decision making BTW.

The second part is where classroom knowledge becomes real-world driving skills. It focuses on: vehicle control and maneuvering. traffic awareness, safe reactions, and building confidence under supervision.
